A serious incident occurred today in Nova Siri Scalo, Italy, where a 44-year-old Albanian man attempted to stab his wife to death near the school attended by their teenage children.
According to the testimonies, the man waited for the woman when she went to drop her child off at school. Initially, there was a verbal altercation between them, which later degenerated into physical violence.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the 44-year-old man stabbed the woman, while she tried to defend herself with her hands and arms. One of the blows came close to the neck area, but the wound was minor.
The victim suffered several wounds to her hands and arms and was transported by the 118 emergency service to the “Giovanni Paolo II” hospital in Policoro. After medical treatment, she was allowed to return home in good health.
After the attack, the suspect fled the scene in an attempt to escape the police. However, the carabinieri only managed to arrest him a few hours later.
The 44-year-old, a resident of Prato, is suspected of having traveled from this city to meet his wife. After being questioned by investigators, he was taken to prison.
Based on the victim's testimony and preliminary verifications, it appears that the attack may have been the result of previous family conflicts. Authorities are working to fully reconstruct the dynamics and motive of the incident.
According to investigations, the attack occurred at a time when there were no other students or children in the area, thus avoiding even more serious consequences.
