Spanish prosecutors have requested a 22-year prison sentence for Italian citizen Marco Romeo, accused of murdering his Albanian partner, Sibora Gagani. The serious incident occurred in the Spanish city of Torremolinos during the summer of 2014.

According to the indictment, the two young people met in Italy in 2009 and a year later, in 2010, they moved to live together in Torremolinos. After a period of separation, in July 2014 they decided to live together again in an apartment in the El Calvario area.

The prosecution alleges that, at some point between July 7 and 14, 2014, the defendant attacked the 22-year-old inside the apartment with a sharp object, causing at least four wounds, three of which to the back, which proved fatal.

After committing the crime, according to the investigation, Romeo allegedly took steps to hide the victim's body inside the apartment.

He allegedly built a makeshift structure using wood, plastic bags, sand and a basic substance, thought to have been lime, in order to insulate the body and prevent the spread of odors.
