
The head of an international criminal organization has been arrested by Tirana police. The 59-year-old, Ilir Kociaj, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison in Italy.
The 59-year-old was caught red-handed while attempting to flee in his vehicle on the "Tirana-Elbasan" highway. Kociaj had been declared wanted by the Elbasan Local Police Directorate, in implementation of the decision of the Tirana Court of Appeal to recognize the decision of the Court of Florence, Italy, which sentenced him to 18 years in prison.

The 59-year-old attempted to flee from the Police services, with an “Audi Q5” type vehicle that was seized by the Police.
As a result of a well-organized information and operational work, the services of the Search Section of the Special Force Sector for Special Operations and Search, in cooperation with the services of the Special Force “Eagle”, successfully finalized the operation “Hierarchy”, during which the citizen was arrested:
-Ilir Kociaj (Koçiaj), 59 years old.
