New details from the investigation into the disappearance of the 48-year-old woman in Tropoja, who has lost contact with her family, children and relatives since July 22.
It was the people of the 48-year-old woman from Tropoja who reported their mother missing to the police. The Kukes Police immediately launched an investigation and questioned the 48-year-old woman's children and relatives. After the investigation, the Kukes police arrested the 48-year-old woman's husband, citizen Imer Shpata, 58 years old, on July 1.
The investigation revealed that the 48-year-old woman is suspected of having left as a result of systematic violence from her husband. Two firearms were also found in the 58-year-old's apartment, which were seized by the Police. The 58-year-old has a previous record of domestic violence, having served 8 months in prison a year ago for raping his wife.
During questioning, the 58-year-old stated that he did not know where his wife might be and that he had left her in the apartment.
On Tuesday evening, July 22, it turns out that the 48-year-old was in the apartment with the 58-year-old after the children spoke to their mother on the phone at around 10:00 PM. Then, at dawn on July 23, 58-year-old Imer Shpata left by car and fled to Durrës to his sister.
The strongest evidence that police found in the 58-year-old's car is his wife's cell phone. When questioned by investigators, the 58-year-old stated that he does not know who put his wife's cell phone in the car.
The Kukes Police are continuing intensive investigations to unravel the incident and have seized and are examining the security cameras of the route the 58-year-old followed from Tropoja to Durrës, as the police have strong suspicions that the husband is connected to the disappearance of the 48-year-old.
