Police have arrested a 53-year-old man who was internationally wanted by Italian authorities.
It is learned that Festim Keci , a resident of Shijak, was arrested , who was sentenced by the Turin Court of Appeal in 2023 to 9 years in prison.
He is accused of the criminal offenses of "Drug Trafficking", "Participation in a Criminal Organization" and "Exploitation of Prostitution", as provided for by the Italian Criminal Code.
His arrest was carried out with the aim of extradition to Italy, where he is expected to serve the sentence imposed by Italian justice.
"The police operation codenamed "Decision" is finalized. A 53-year-old man wanted by Italian authorities is located, captured and put in handcuffs.
The 53-year-old was sentenced to 9 years in prison for criminal activity in the field of narcotics and exploitation of prostitution.
As part of the work to track, locate and capture wanted persons, based on information obtained operationally, specialists from the Narcotics Investigation Section, in cooperation with the Shijak Police Commissariat and the Operational Forces of the Durrës DVP, successfully finalized the police operation codenamed "Decision".
During the operation, it was possible to capture and temporarily arrest, with the aim of extradition, the citizen Festim Keci, 53 years old, resident of Shijak.
This citizen was declared internationally wanted, after the Court of Appeal of Turin/Italy, in 2023, sentenced him to 9 years in prison for the criminal offenses of "Drug Trafficking", "Participation in a Criminal Organization" and "Exploitation of Prostitution", provided for by the Italian Criminal Code.
"The investigative materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Durrës, with the aim of extradition to Italy ," the police announced.
