A 35-year-old man has been arrested by the Kavaja police after he is accused of killing his 75-year-old mother, an event which was initially reported as accidental.
The woman was found dead in her apartment the day before. The police established after the expertise that violence had been used against the woman.
The police said that they have arrested the citizen Ndriçim Sokoli, the son of the deceased, who suffers from mental health problems.
"It was initially reported as a natural death, as a result of in-depth investigative actions, the cause of the loss of the 75-year-old woman's life is clarified. He killed his mother, through physical violence, the 35-year-old man is arrested in the act. The 35-year-old suffered from mental illness.
Following the in-depth investigative actions conducted by the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the Durrës General Jurisdiction, to clarify the cause of the loss of life of the citizen IS, 75 years old, who was found dead on 10.02. 2024, in the apartment where she lived with her son, we clarify that:
In the first moments, from the preliminary external examination of the body of the 75-year-old, no signs of violence were found and the event was reported as a natural death.
After conducting in-depth investigations and forensic expertise, it was established that the IS citizen had died a few hours ago. Also, it turned out that her son, a citizen of NS, who suffers from mental illness, had exercised physical violence against the 75-year-old, violence which had caused injuries that resulted in the loss of life. The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Durrës, for further actions", the police informs.
