New details have come to light regarding the road accident where 29-year-old Aldo Gjoka lost his life. The Albanian boy lost his life after his Yamaha motorcycle was hit by a "Jaguar" on the afternoon of September 7.
The reconstruction of the accident came after the questioning of the driver before the judge Anna Paola Capano. The 44-year-old with the initials RT, the driver of the car hit and killed the young man along the Melendugno-Otranto coastal road, near Torre Specchia.
Suspect's story
The man, also of Albanian origin, under house arrest after the incident, in the presence of his lawyer Nicola Di Bello, confessed the hours that preceded the fatal accident. After having lunch in a restaurant in San Cataldo, he had heard the accent among some Albanians. Aldo Gjoka's father was among the guests. The small group talked together for more than half an hour, drinking a few glasses of raki and taking advantage of the presence of an Albanian singer.
Then the greetings and the exchange of business cards, especially between the 44-year-old and Aldo's father, before they got back into the car and headed towards the tragic accident where the 29-year-old lost his life. However, at the moment there is no progress in the dynamics of the accident. The man reportedly stated that he had no recollection of the crash, also specifying that he passed out as soon as his vehicle's airbag deployed.
INVESTIGATIONS
Investigations are carried out by the Carabinieri and local police officers of Melendugno. According to initial findings, the car was traveling at about 120 km/h (well above the 50 km/h limit for that stretch of road), and after rounding the Via Plutone curve, it crossed into the opposite lane and crashed, hitting the Yamaha motorcycle. -s driven by the unfortunate motorcyclist, who flew from the vehicle about 20 meters away, ending up inside the garden of a house.
A strong crash, where the two-wheeler caught fire and Aldino died instantly. A dynamic which, in any case, remains under observation by the experts appointed by the Leče Prosecutor's Office and by the parties involved, who in the coming weeks will have to provide data and planimetric measurements useful to shed light on the fatal accident.
