An organization aimed at the illegal trafficking of narcotics in the area of Vibo Valentia, but with branches and contacts in the national and international territory. The main business of the group identified by the Catanzaro DDA investigators was the transportation and trade of cocaine, heroin, marijuana and hashish.
At the head of the association are exponents of the local 'Ndrangheta from Zungri and Mileto, but also Vibo Marina and Limbadi. 11 people ended up in prison this morning by order of the investigating judge of the Court of Vibo Valentia. Subjects already known to the police and with stable roles in organized crime in the Vibos area.
Buying and selling
According to what resulted from the investigation, reported by the investigating judge in the order, the group identified the sources of supply of drugs, even in large quantities, to be imported into Italy from South America and Albania. Then the drugs arrived at the Italian ports, were sold and transported in the areas of Vibo Valentia and Cosenza, but also outside the Calabrian territory such as the areas of Caltanissetta, Naples, Asti, in Tuscany and throughout northern Italy.
At the head of the organization, as the investigating judge writes in the order, was Michele Galati, active in the purchase, transport and sale of drugs together with Giuseppe Antonio Açorinti. According to the prosecutor's office, it was Galati who was in charge of the organization and the identification of the channels of supply and sale of drugs.
Then there are Domenico and Armando Galati, respectively financiers and participants in the activity, with the latter who can also start autonomous supply channels.
Episodes
Among those arrested is Salvatore Ascone, described by the prosecution as the "promoter and financier" of the criminal group. Through his autonomous channels, he would have steadily supplied the group with large quantities of drugs thanks to the intermediation of Emanuele Mancuso, Roço Ascone and Gheorghe Laurentiu Nicolae.
There have been numerous incidents of drug dealing reported to the suspects. In one case, for example, Giuseppe Açorinti, together with Michele Galati, sold a person 3 kg of marijuana at a price of 1200 euros per kg.
In other episodes, members of the group have offered buyers the opportunity to purchase "Albanian" marijuana for 1,600 euros per kilogram. And then there is the sale of cocaine, with prices ranging from 40 to 50 euros per gram.
Among the activities documented by the investigators was the sale of 10 kg of marijuana to Coro Roço Fusca, at a price of 9,000 euros. The latter then allegedly went to Battipaglia to give a sample of the drug to a subject. According to the prosecution, Salvatore Ascone and Emanuele Mancuso in four episodes gave a subject 200, 650, 650 and 700 grams of cocaine respectively, thus favoring the 'Ndrangheta Soriano gang, active in the Filandari area.
