
Three people wanted by Italy for drug trafficking have been arrested within a few hours by the Directorate of the Special Operational Force at the State Police.
The arrested are Kledis Shermadhi, 24 years old, Ardit Mehdiu, 29 years old, and Emiseldo Fasko, 22 years old.
The three people are from the city of Fier, while extradition procedures through Interpol Tirana will be awaited. The actions are coded "Operation 61, 62 and 63", carried out at different intervals, while the detainees are accused of being part of an international criminal organization.
According to official information, they were declared internationally wanted, after the Rimini Court assigned them the security measure of "prison arrest" for the criminal offenses of "criminal organization" and "drug trafficking", for which the maximum sentence is 10 years in prison.
"Three more operations are being finalized by the Directorate of the Special Operational Force at the DPSSh, to capture citizens declared internationally wanted.
The police operations codenamed "Operation 61", "Operation 62" and "Operation 63" are finalized. 3 citizens are arrested and accused by the Italian authorities of being members of a criminal organization that trafficked narcotics.
Following successive operations to capture citizens declared internationally wanted, the structures of the Directorate of the Special Operational Force at the DPSSh, based on the information provided, captured during 3 operations conducted in the Fier district, 3 citizens wanted by the Italian authorities, specifically:
-As part of the operation "Operacionalja 61", citizen K. Sh., 24 years old, resident of Fier, was arrested and handcuffed;
-As part of the operation "Operacionalja 62", citizen AM, 29 years old, resident of Fier, was arrested and handcuffed;
-As part of the operation "Operacionalja 63", citizen EF, 22 years old, resident of Fier, was arrested and handcuffed.
These citizens were declared internationally wanted, after the Court of Rimini, Italy, assigned them the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offenses "Criminal organization" and "Drug trafficking". Maximum sentence: 10 years in prison.
They are accused of having purchased large quantities of drugs during the period June-December 2024, in collaboration with each other and with other citizens, with the aim of selling them in the city of Rimini.
"Interpol Tirana, in cooperation with Interpol Rome, is continuing the procedures for the extradition of these citizens to Italy," the police announced.
