The Special Court has remanded in prison the Road Police officers, arrested a few days ago at the request of SPAK.
Sokol Novaku, head of the road accident investigation section, and Roven Zeka, head of the Traffic Police Commissariat, were arrested after allegedly receiving 2,000 euros to alter evidence in an accident.
On April 16, 2025, a road accident occurred in the city of Tirana, where two vehicles collided with each other. As a result of the accident, the five people traveling in one of the vehicles were taken to the hospital for medical assistance.
While in the other vehicle, only the driver, Anisa Vrioni, the wife of citizen Ergest Vrioni, the person who bribed the police officers, was present.
Following data and information provided by officers of the National Bureau of Investigation (BKH), it emerged that traffic police officers have demanded a payment of 2,000 euros from the family of the driver of the vehicle, for not arresting her.
The amount of money was requested to be handed over within a short time and was obtained by the person under investigation, Ergest Vrioni, with the help of other people. He handed this amount over to one of the traffic police officers - a fact proven during the investigation.
During the checks carried out for the purpose of this criminal proceeding, the amounts of 2,500,000 lek and 26 thousand euros were seized as material evidence.
