At the request of the SPAK special prosecution, the court released Enio Meçaj from prison, who is believed to be the son of Laert Haxhiu's aunt, arrested in Greece.
Laert Haxhiu is currently being tried in absentia at SPAK, for the murder of Jurgen Hoxha and Zamir Latifi. At the same time, Haxhia is in the process of another investigation in Fier for the murder of Besnik Hida in Lushnjë.
The request to change the security measure from "arrest in prison" to "compulsion to appear" is said to have been made by the prosecutor of the case, Behar Dibra, and subsequently approved by the court.
Dibra claimed in the courtroom that Enio Meçaj is not socially dangerous and is accused of a criminal offense that is not dangerous. According to the prosecutor Dibra, Meçaj has no criminal record and as such the security measure had to be changed from arrest to prison to forced appearance.
Meçaj was released from Fier prison around December 29, 2023. Meçaj is a close person of Laert Haxhiu and on the day of his arrest he was in the "Astir" area in Tirana.
Meçaj's name also appears in the testimony of Artan Tafan, the associate of justice, who shows him as a participant in the robbery. Enio Meçaj was arrested in June 2023, after the robbery of 30,000 euros at the Exchange and Tele.co currency exchange point in Tirana.
According to the investigation file, Meçaj made available to the suspected perpetrator a vehicle garage, and with his actions and inactions he prevented the police from discovering the truth, claiming that he does not know the person who owns the garage.
During the inspection of the garage, bicycles and clothing used by the author during the event were found, as well as a vehicle that was stolen on February 23, 2023, in Shijak, Durrës.
SPAK, investigations are being carried out for 12 other people who have committed a series of serious crimes such as robbery, murder, attempted murder, car theft, drug trafficking and even destruction of property with explosives.
