A 20-year-old man has been arrested by police after setting fire to a sports field in the village of Sopik in Finiqi.
The fire that Aristidh Papa started yesterday spread, burning an area of land with vegetation and bushes. But thanks to the timely intervention of the residents of the area, the fire was extinguished and the further spread of the flames was prevented.
"As a result of the investigative work and rapid actions to identify and arrest the perpetrators of the arson, the services of the Saranda Police Commissariat arrested in flagrante delicto the citizen AP, 20 years old, resident of Sopik, Finiq.
The 20-year-old is suspected of having started a fire on the sports field of the village of Sopik on 18.08.2025, which resulted in the burning of an area of land with vegetation and bushes. Thanks to the timely intervention of local residents, the fire was extinguished and the further spread of the flames, which could have had more serious consequences, was prevented," the police announced.
"The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Saranda, for further action ," the police announced.
