The murder of a 47-year-old Albanian man with a bullet to the head, a crime that occurred on Monday afternoon in one of the areas of Athens, remains a mystery. Albanian Artur Bashimi, a person with a criminal record, was found on the street with no signs of life, while a shell casing was found next to him.
The perpetrator has not yet been arrested, while footage from security cameras covering the area has been collected to shed more light on the incident.
Also known as Artur Turabi, Bashimi was arrested in 2022 for participating in a criminal organization that committed thefts against passengers on public transport.
Artur Bashimi turns out to be the brother of 38-year-old Marsel Bashimi alias Marsel Shkurtaj alias Marsel Gozhita, a person with serious criminal records in Greece and Albania. Marsel Bashimi was arrested in July 2022 along with Bledar Jambelli and Kristaq Leci, as perpetrators of a serious incident involving the use of weapons in Greece.
Therefore, authorities in Greece are also investigating the possibility of revenge against the 47-year-old due to his brother's problems.
However, according to Greek media, the most common route is that of disrupting drug deals. The victim was arrested in February 2022 for participating in a 19-member criminal organization that robbed innocent citizens on public transport. In April 2024, he was arrested again on similar charges.
