A Russian citizen identified as 57-year-old Aleksander Bobovnikov was handcuffed by the Albanian police in Rinas.
He was wanted by Russia for the crime of fraud. Earlier he was detained in Florence, but the Italian court refused extradition due to the political nature of the case for which he was wanted in his country.
Bobovnikov says that he came to Albania on Monday with Carter together with some of his German friends. It is learned that Bobovnikov, a neurosurgeon by profession, has spoken earlier against the war in Ukraine by Russia and against the power of the Kremlin.
This Thursday at 12:00 a.m. the session for the assessment of the security measure will take place in the Court of Tirana. The 57-year-old also has an Israeli passport. The countries of the European Union have rejected his arrest, while currently it remains to be seen what will be the attitude of the Albanian court.
