Today, the Criminal Court of Tirana left Altin Çoku, who is accused of causing the suicide of 27-year-old Sibela Abedini in Kamëz, in prison.
Inside the cage, he expressed his condolences to the victim's family, but he charged another person with the publication of intimate photos of the girl that led him to the extreme act.
"It appeared in the media, the photo was taken by citizen Jan Haxhia, because it is the messages on the girl's phone. I express my condolences to the family", said Choku inside the glass cage, where he appeared smiling.
Choku denied the charges brought against him and said that he was arrested in vain by the police.
"I was arrested illegally because it is known who did it", added the 39-year-old.
But even though a young girl, a mother who orphaned a 2-year-old minor girl has lost her life, in the footage that was shown by the court it was clearly seen that Altin Çoku did not show any sign of remorse.
Chok's dark past
But Altin Çoku, known as a celebrity on the Tik Tok social network, has a dark past on his shoulders. Years ago, 39-year-old Altin Coku was arrested by the police, after burning his uncle's son with gasoline, as the latter's sister refused to have a relationship with Coku. At that time, he was released from prison after a forensic examination ruled him mentally retarded, with the court ordering his father to undergo compulsory treatment.
Çoku was sentenced by the former Court of Serious Crimes in 2015, to 1 year and 6 months in prison after threatening to kill his psychiatrist in 2014. He demanded sums of money from him, threatening that he would bleed.
Choku "bragged" about the forensic report
The medical-legal report proving that he suffered from mental retardation problems was the reason why he did not go to prison.
For this, he "boasted" on Tik Tok, saying that he will do a maximum of two days in prison, whatever happens, because he had a mental health report from a doctor.
"I have a report, I'm a fool, I'm in jail for two days", said Çoku on the Tik Tok social network.
Accusations of family members
But the family members of the young girl have raised doubts that there may be other people involved. This is because Sibela's brother said that he saw two people in the palace on the night of the incident, one above on the terrace and another below the palace. The 27-year-old's mother told the media that if justice does not give life imprisonment to Chok, she will commit suicide. The aunt and uncle of the 27-year-old have stated the same thing a day after the serious incident.
Çok's contact with the victim
Sibela Abedini's family members also told the media that the 27-year-old had no intimate contact with Çok. According to them, it was Sibela's mother who went to clean the 39-year-old's apartment on the first day, and on the second day only Sibela went, but she was not paid.
This family testimony refutes Chok's statements about an intimate meeting in the hotel and the authenticity of the intimate photo that circulated on Tik Tok.
Sibela Abedini was married in Kosovo and had a minor daughter, while a month ago she returned to her family in Kamëz after conflicts with her husband.
There will now be police investigations to confirm the statements of the family members and Altin Çok, and the cause of the 27-year-old's death.
