
6 days after the disappearance of 63-year-old Engjell Kanani near the Vjosa River near the village of Kashisht, there is no trace of him.
Sources from the scene said that it remains a mystery that none of his personal belongings, such as fishing gear, bags, or cell phones, have been found.
Furthermore, the 63-year-old's cell phone was switched on for up to 24 hours after Kanani's disappearance while the search for him was underway. Family members and his 64-year-old friend repeatedly called his number, but despite the calls being made, no one answered.
The search has also been extended to the Vjosa - Levan - Fier canal, which connects to the Vjosa River, and a group of families have been searching this area for two days, joining the search operation by the police and the team of divers.
In addition to the search, the crime branch of the Fier police station has launched an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the incident. Engjell Kanani is a father of two children, and together with a friend of his, both of whom live in Berat, they have been practicing amateur fishing on the Vjosa River for three years.
On the day of the disappearance, Thursday of last week, the two friends were seen fishing in different places in the Kashisht area. His friend told the police that they had made an appointment and a time to meet but the 63-year-old did not show up at the place where they had made an appointment.
