In an operation conducted inside the Murriz tunnel, Tirana police officers arrested a 22-year-old man who was transporting firearms from Burreli towards the capital.
The arrested person is Ardit Doçi, a resident of Burrel, who is suspected of selling weapons in the capital to criminal groups.
According to the police, in the operation codenamed "Tunnel", 2 Kalashnikovs were seized that were to be sold on behalf of criminal groups.
Four firearms were also found, which were seized along with the 22-year-old's vehicle and cell phone.
"The services of the Police Commissariat No. 4 have provided information that a citizen was circulating with a firearm in a vehicle. As a result of the rapid administration of this information, the coded operation "Tunnel" was organized and finalized, during which the citizen: AD, 22 years old, resident of Burrel, was arrested. During the operation, in the Murriz tunnel, the Police services stopped the vehicle driven by the 22-year-old, in which, during the search, they found 2 Kalashnikov firearms and 4 rifles hidden in the trunk", the police inform.
Meanwhile, according to the Blues, investigations are continuing to document this criminal activity, identify and capture other citizens who may have been involved.
The young man is currently charged with the criminal offenses of "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition."
