The Montenegrin and Albanian police have undertaken a joint operation against the cultivation of cannabis.
It is learned that within the scope of the "Bjeshke" operation, 3 parcels of narcotic plants were discovered and 11,358 cannabis roots were destroyed in the territory of the Great Highlands, on the border with Montenegro.
Citizen MG, 27 years old, a resident of Shkodër, who was caught red-handed, was arrested. During the operation, a firearm with ammunition and a couple, both without a permit, were seized.
"Today, on 25.07.2024, in the early hours of the morning, after a several-week investigation, in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance Shkodër, under difficult operational conditions, the police operation against the cultivation of narcotic plants was developed and finalized , in the territory of the Great Highlands, Kelmend administrative unit, Selcë village, in the place called "Bjeshket e Gërçe", near the border with Montenegro
In implementation of the measures defined in the national operational plan coded "Clean Territory", by the Local Police Directorate of Shkodër, in cooperation with the Police of Montenegro, the National Security Force and the Special Unit "RENEA", the police operation was finalized coded "Bjeshket", during which 11,358 suspected cannabis sativa narcotic plants, cultivated in 3 plots, were destroyed, as well as the red-handed arrest of the suspected perpetrator of the cultivation of these plants, citizen MG, 28 years old, born and resident in Shkodër. During the operation, 1 firearm, a ten-gauge rifle, with ammunition and 1 double shotgun that were possessed without a permit were found and seized as material evidence.
For the finalization of this operation, on behalf of the State Police, I want to thank the colleagues of the Police of Montenegro, for the correct and professional cooperation with the services of the Albanian Police. This model of cooperation shows once again the very good relations between the two policemen, as well as the trust to exchange any information in the fight against crime.
Also, we inform you that by the Shkodra Local Police Directorate, in accordance with this operational plan, since January 2024, until today, 249,834 cannabis sativa plants and seedlings have been destroyed, as well as 242 cases of cultivation have been identified. to which the materials for the initiation of criminal proceedings in the Prosecutor's Office of the Shkodër Judicial District are referred.
In view of these investigations being carried out by DVP Shkodër, we are coordinating and have a very good cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office of the Judicial District of Shkodër and with the Special Prosecutor's Office SPAK, for the legal documentation of the criminal activity of the persons involved in this activity". the police announce.
