Sources inform that 2 people for whom an arrest warrant has been issued, within the SPAK operation, are in Spain.
The former leader of the Durrës gang, who was wanted since 2022, was arrested in Spain on December 14, 2023. He was hiding in Spain with Bulgarian papers and his extradition to our country is expected.
Who is Lul Berisha?
In 2016, Lul Berisha managed to get out of prison without completing his 25-year sentence, being released on bail by the Court of First Instance in Durrës with claims of health reasons. This decision at the time came after the Supreme Court had rejected the prosecution for a life sentence.
Berisha was arrested in 2006 for the criminal activity of the Durrës gang committed in the years 1998-2000 for the criminal offenses of "Premeditated murder" committed within the "Structured Criminal Group" and "Illegal Possession of Firearms". . 16 members of this gang were sentenced to a total of 245 years in prison by the former Serious Crimes Court.
However, in January 2022, Lulzim Berisha was declared wanted by the Durrës Prosecutor's Office for the same thing that was released in 2016. It happened about 2 years ago after the Supreme Court overturned the decision to release him on bail.
In 2020, Lulzim Berisha was declared wanted for the murder of Vajdin Lame and Klodian Saliu, murders in 2005, which were revealed 15 years later. For the murder of Lame, the case was dismissed, while currently only Klodian Saliu was being sought, who was killed on the Durrës-Maminas road, in the village of Koxhaj, while driving a "Mercedes Benz" car.
