One of the suspects in the "Encrochat/SKY ECC" file with 128 defendants, who was still on the run, was arrested today during a series of house searches in another drug file.
Belgian federal magistrate Julien Moinil reported this on Tuesday at the "Encrochat/SKY" trial. It is about the Albanian Daniel K., who is also wanted in the United Kingdom for murder.
32-year-old Daniel K. is one of 128 suspects currently on trial before the Brussels Criminal Court in the biggest drug trial ever held in Belgium. The Albanian, who has six aliases, including an Italian identity, could never be arrested during the course of the investigation.
Investigating judge Tock therefore issued an international arrest warrant against him. He was arrested today during a series of house searches and will appear in court tomorrow.
It is not yet clear what role Daniel K. played in the "Encrochat/SKY" file. At the moment, no other details are known about the police checks in the apartments.
