The testimony of 25-year-old Sebastian Muçmata, who is accused of injuring 28-year-old Elvis Halilaj, cousin of the mayor of Kukës, Albert Halilaj, is being released. He has confirmed that the conflict started because of his brother's duty.
The young man surrendered to the police yesterday evening and is accused of the criminal offense of intentional murder in collaboration with the remaining attempted murder and illegal possession of weapons and ammunition.
In his testimony, Sebastian Muçmata said that he did not go to kill anyone, but that the injured man's brother pointed the gun at his father. He also stated that citizens Qerim and Elvis Halilaj had previously raped his brother, who works at the Municipality as Director of the Public Services Directorate. According to Muçmata, they claim that he interfered in Halilaj's dismissal.
"I was familiar with the fact and the accusation and as far as you ask me and accuse me, I have to add that I did not go to kill anyone, but at the moment I went, Qerim (the wounded man's brother) pointed the gun at my father Izet (Muçmata), at these moments I immediately went to the car and took a pistol-type weapon that I had in the trunk and shot in the direction of the road where the two brothers Qerim and Elvis Halilaj were, if I had intended to kill them I had that opportunity, but I did not intend to kill anyone. When I learned that it was precisely citizens Qerim and Elvis Halilaj who had beaten my brother Zenel today at the Bicaj agency, who was left unconscious lying on the ground.
"This conflict began due to the duty of Zenel Muçmata, who works in the Municipality as the Director of the Directorate of Public Services, and Elvis Halilaj claims that he directly influenced or intervened in Elvis Halilaj's dismissal ," the young man testified.
