After eating and drinking in each other's company, Gazmend Braçi and his two friends set off hunting.
To take them to the mountain, they hired a local shepherd, Armir Hitoveiz, who also slaughtered meat for them, and they set off in his car.
As they were driving down a road created by passing cars, in a grassy field, a car pulled up in front of them. Its driver started yelling at them about using their high beams.
However, without appreciating it and leaving such a banal debate behind, Gazmendi and his friends left. On the way, a surprise. They ran out of fuel. At this moment, Braçi called his father, who was at the rest home, for help.
Eqerem Braçi set off with the Italian, in 2 cars, he in a white Land Rover Defender and Edoardo Sarchi in a Volkswagen.
Gazmendi and the group left the car below and started walking to the main street to meet their father and Italian friend, until they were all together.
They were outside their cars when shots were fired at them. The person they had argued with about the high beams had returned.
The 44-year-old Italian entrepreneur immediately tried to approach his car, while the perpetrator began shooting at him.
In this attempt, a bullet hit him in the back of the thigh in the main artery. Friends gave him first aid and called the police, requesting the help of a helicopter to take them to the hospital without delay, but the Italian did not survive.
The bullets hit the tires of the Land Rover and the Italian's Volkswagen.
The Braçs had also called the other son of the house, Daniel, who also arrived at the scene. Everyone accompanied them to the police that day, except for Gazmend Braç's 2 friends. Out of fear, they had left. They later appeared at the police, accompanied by a lawyer. They testified that they saw a white car, but they could not say the name of the perpetrator because they did not know him.
To uncover the identity of the perpetrator, investigators were aided by the testimony of two local residents, brothers. They became completely random witnesses.
They were on a 4-wheeled motorcycle hunting when they heard gunshots, some in their direction, and the suspect asked them: "Are you with them?"
The brothers, frightened, answered "NO", left the motorcycle and hid. They testified that from below, the perpetrator was shooting those who were up on the main road.
Through the statements taken, the police placed the four who first clashed with the perpetrator, Gazmend Braçi, his 2 friends, and the shepherd, in front of 5 different photos. All of them, in separate rooms, identified the image of Kamber Sulçaj.
No shell casings were found at the scene. After the bullets were fired from the shotgun, the suspect is believed to have collected the casings. Investigators consider him a shell collector, as after the crime, a bag of shell casings from the gun he fired on the day of the incident was found in his home.
The security cameras of a residence in the area had captured his white car with a body on the morning of September 26, the day of the incident, as he headed towards his farm, not far from Salaria, to deliver a plastic water tank for the cows he had in the farm.
In the evening, after the incident, another security camera spotted the suspect's car, shortly before the 48-year-old man from the village of Mesaplik, abandoned it 5 km from his home, in a deep mountainous area.
The author is thought to have descended from Nivica to a stream, gone to Bolena, and then very easily could have gone to his native village, Mesaplik, or other villages along the river.
Currently, the 48-year-old remains on the run and wanted by the police./ Report Tv
