The court and prosecutor's office of Elbasan is armed today as security measures are expected to be given to the members of Laert Haxhiu's gang arrested as part of the "Never Forget" operation.
A wide area around the Elbasan court has been blocked pending the security measure session.
So it is learned that today's session will be led by Prosecutor Kreshnik Ajazi and Judge Megi Strakosha.
On October 28, the police arrested 12 people and declared 4 others wanted, as suspects for 6 murders, 3 attempted murders, 5 property explosions with dynamite, 2 violent robberies, as well as solving two murders committed in Greece.
Premeditated and revenge murders, as well as other crimes, were committed in Korça, Elbasan, Peqin, Lushnje, Tepelena, Durrës and Tirana in the years 2021-22.
The arrested are:
- Artan (Marjus) Tafani,
-Lulzim Spahija (Arabia),
- Ligor Romacka,
-Erisiano Abedini,
-Bledar Barber,
- Maringlen Topuzi,
- Bujar Abedini,
- Enriko Xhahysa,
- Clea Gjata,
-Idriz Manej,
- Fatjon Veliu,
- Laert Haxhiu.
The latter is mentioned by the police as a suspected participant in almost all the murders and violent episodes, which are listed in the official notification for this group.
Artan Tafani, the "soldier" of Laert Haxhiu, has also become an associate of justice by solving more than 19 criminal events between them and 6 murders, which according to the prosecution of Elbasan, there is all the evidence that they were committed by Laert Haxhiu's gang.
Tafani was arrested on Saturday evening, September 23, 2023, at dinner in a hotel near a gas station on the highway in the territory of Lushnje.
The police leaders claimed that a number of serious criminal events against the person and property, which happened before inside and outside the country, have already been revealed.
The Director General of the State Police, Chief Madhor Muhamet Rrumbullaku, told the media that the operation increased public safety and illuminated a series of crimes due to the engagement of a more professional police force.
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Taulant Balla, praised the police for "clearing up 16 serious criminal events", and invited the citizens to cooperate with the law enforcement forces to strike illegalities together and increase the level of security in the community.
