Over 160 kilograms of cocaine have been seized in the province of Bergamo during a Guardia di Finanza operation.
Two citizens of Albanian origin have been arrested on charges of drug trafficking, Italian media report .
The operation took place as part of a coordinated check by the Guardia di Finanza units operating in the District of the Court of Appeal of Brescia. The quantity of drugs was discovered after the stop of a heavy TIR vehicle in an industrial area of Bergamo.

According to the authorities, following surveillance and control services in the industrial and commercial areas of the provinces of Brescia and Bergamo, considered of high investigative interest, the officers detected suspicious movements of the heavy vehicle.
The TIR driver entered the trailer and waited for the arrival of a second vehicle, which was handed over seven large bags. Immediately afterwards, Guardia di Finanza forces intervened, blocking the vehicles and the people involved.

During the search, 150 packages of cocaine were seized, with a total weight of over 160 kilograms. According to estimates, the narcotic substance would bring profits of around 20 million euros on the illegal market.
At the conclusion of the investigative actions, and in cooperation with the competent Judicial Authority, two Albanian citizens were arrested and sent to Bergamo Prison, where they will face justice.
