A fight over weak motives ended with serious injuries yesterday afternoon, February 4, in the city of Saranda.
According to preliminary information, 45-year-old Gëzim Preçi, born in Tirana and residing in Lezha, after a momentary conflict, is suspected of having punched and hit 48-year-old Gentjan Mustafa, a resident of Shelegar, with hard objects.
Sources at the scene indicate that the attack occurred without any clear motive.
The bystanders immediately transported the injured man to the emergency room of Saranda Hospital. According to doctors, the 48-year-old's condition was serious, as the blow below his eye caused a fractured bone, as well as hemorrhage in the eye.
After providing first aid, Gentjan Mustafa was taken by ambulance to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana for specialized treatment.
Meanwhile, the Police services have gone to the scene and arrested 45-year-old Gëzim Preçi, who will be investigated for the criminal offense of "intentional serious injury".
Police sources indicate that Preçi had been in Saranda for about a week and that he had previously had verbal clashes with other citizens, but without the use of hard objects.
It is also learned that the 45-year-old has shown mental health concerns. For this reason, despite the arrest, he is expected to be sent to the Lezha Psychiatric Hospital for forced hospitalization, pending medical examination.
