The Guardia di Finanza operation dismantles the criminal network operating in Lombardy; spectacular seizures and arrests of the leaders of the organization.
A vast anti-drug operation has shaken the city of Bergamo and beyond, leading to the destruction of an Italian-Albanian criminal organization that operated in drug trafficking, the exploitation of prostitution and the robbery of luxury villas.
According to Italian authorities, the Guardia di Finanza carried out a coordinated operation that resulted in the arrest of several key members of the group, composed of Italian and Albanian citizens, active in the Lombardy region and surrounding areas. During the operation, firearms, large quantities of drugs (marijuana, hashish and cocaine), significant amounts of cash divided into packages, as well as a luxury limousine used to transport sex workers were seized.
The charges against those arrested include drug trafficking, prostitution, villa robbery, extortion, receiving stolen goods, fraudulent bankruptcy and illegal possession of weapons. Meanwhile, authorities have not made the identities of the arrested public, but have distributed footage and photos of the operation and the seizures carried out.
This operation once again demonstrates the involvement of Albanian elements in international criminal networks, raising concerns for the security and integrity of Albanian communities in the diaspora. Italian authorities continue their investigations to uncover possible links of this organization with other criminal networks in Europe.
