A call in Dover, Delaware, surprised the EMS worker. A caller from Albania, thinking he was contacting the police officers in Dover, England, mistakenly received those from the USA asking for help after the dinghy where his brother was sinking in the English Channel.
The event is said to have happened on August 27.
"The caller had performed an Internet search for 'Dover Police Department,' and the first search result on the screen appeared to be the Dover, Delaware Police Department ," police officials said in a news release.
"He thought they were calling Dover, England, but he was connected to our agency here in the United States," they added.
After this call within 4 minutes, international agencies were notified.
Finally, the Albanian managed to contact the French Coast Guard and his brother, together with the others on the boat, were saved.
