New details of the US scholarship and visa fraud scheme have been revealed. After the alarm raised by the American Embassy in Tirana, the police made it possible to arrest two women who had created the "Let's Talk Together About US24" project, with which they deceived various citizens and students by falsifying documents.
The scandal deepens further as one of the arrested women is known to be part of the education system, more precisely, an education official at the local level, part of the General Directorate of Pre-University Education in the Ministry of Education.
It is also said that the investigation is still ongoing, as it is suspected that there may be other people involved in the fraud scheme.
The created project was sold as if it was part of the projects of the American Embassy in Tirana to be more credible. According to the information, the embassy discovered the scheme and the perpetrators, and then notified the State Police, which acted on the ground to arrest the persons involved.
"The Department of Criminal Police, under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana, joint investigations with law enforcement officials of the US Embassy in Tirana, for the discovery and suppression of a fraud scheme for the provision of opportunities/scholarships for students, for studies in the USA.

The VL citizen has been put under investigation, together with the KJ citizen, as it is suspected that in cooperation with other citizens, they have created a fraud scheme, by falsifying documents, to provide opportunities/scholarships for students to study at US universities , through the project known as "Let's Talk Together About US24."
"Investigations are continuing to identify and bring to criminal responsibility all the citizens involved in this fraud scheme ," the police announced.
We recall that earlier, the American Embassy called on citizens to beware of fraudulent schemes that promise American visas at a cheap price and quickly.
She also asked citizens to report any cases of fraud related to the embassy.
" The US Embassy in Tirana is aware of a so-called project known as "Let's Talk Together About US24." This group has no affiliation with the US Embassy, the US Department of State, the US Department of Education, our educational programs, or embassy personnel. The US State Department's Diplomatic Security Service will continue to work with the State Police as they investigate the extent of this fraudulent scheme.
We urge all Albanians to be wary of scams that guarantee free travel to the United States, as well as free or low-cost American visas. We also urge anyone to contact the US Embassy if they suspect that any person or organization is attempting to falsely represent themselves as affiliated with the embassy ," the Embassy previously announced.
