In our country, Rexhepi is accused of three criminal offences: the kidnapping and disappearance of Jan Prenga, murder in Krujë years ago, forgery of documents in Fier.
The much-wanted Dritan Rexhepi will be extradited from Turkey to Albania today.
Through an announcement, the State Police informs that the extradition will be carried out, as a result of the cooperation between Interpol Tirana and counterparts in Turkey. Rexhepi, described as the head of the drug cartel called 'Kompania Bello', was wanted by Italy and Albania on charges of transporting drugs from South America to Europe. He is also accused of ordering the hostage taking and killing of Jan Prenga.
As Turkish media reported at the time, Rexhepi had entered Turkey with a fake Colombian passport, while he was caught on November 10 during an operation in Istanbul.
"As a result of the cooperation between Interpol Tirana and counterparts in Turkey, it is expected that today, the much wanted citizen Dritan Rexhepi alias Gramos Rexhepi will be extradited to Albania.
The arrival time of this citizen will be announced below, while the detailed information about him, together with film footage, will be made available to you after his arrival in Rinas", the police announcement states.
