The two people sentenced to life imprisonment for the so-called Lushnja massacre where two people were killed and two others were injured, have pleaded not guilty in the Supreme Court.
The appeal submitted on December 18 by defense lawyer Detar Hysi is expected to be examined in the following days.
The charges brought against them are for "murder with premeditation for revenge", "murder in qualifying circumstances" and "structured criminal group".
On March 20, 2023, the Court of Special Appeals finally sealed the sentence of life imprisonment for the two young men.
According to the prosecution, the criminal group in question was created by Laert Haxhiu in order to execute Xjulio Shkurti, the nephew of Aldo Bare, former leader of the "Lushnja gang".
Zamir Lafiti and Jurgen Hoxha were killed by the shooting and Marjus Xhepexhiu and Bujar Turku were injured. The "target" escaped unhurt in the assassination attempt as a few moments before the group of his friends were shot, he entered a shop near the scene of the incident.
The investigations of the prosecution have concluded that the motive of the assassination was revenge due to the conflicts between the families of Xjulio Shkurt and Laert Haxhi, since 1998.
Meanwhile, after the statements of the repentant justice, Artan Tafani, SPAK claims to have documented 6 murders committed by the criminal group led by Haxhiu.
The history of the Lushnje gang
The starting point of the bloody clashes between the gangs in Lushnje was the murder of Ramadan Shkurt, the brother of Alfred Shkurt (Aldo Bares), until then an officer of the RENEA Forces. After the murder of his brother, Bare, in order to take revenge on the citizen Artur Daja, his companions, friends and relatives, created the so-called "Lushnje Gang".
Initially, Ilir Stergu, Afrim Hoxha, Arben Borici, Enver Boriçi, Enver Dondollaku, companions, friends and relatives of the defendant Aldo Bare and his brother Ramadan Shkurt, who were already killed, gathered in this group. Aldo Bare takes revenge on Artur Daja, who after executing him cuts off his head and kicks him in the streets of the city of Lushnje.
Ramadan Shkurti is executed in 1997 by Artur Daja and his associates. On 21.10.1998 in the village of Grabian in the city of Lushnja, after an explosive explosion was heard, scattered parts of a human body were found at the scene.
Ditën e vrasjes së Artur Dajës, në sheshin e qytetit të Lushnjës, pjesëtarë të grupit kriminal, të drejtuar nga Aldo Bare, kanë shëtitur nëpër shesh kokën e prerë të kufomës, Artur Daja. Ndërmjet tyre, në ngjarjen kriminale të ekspozimit të kokës së prerë kanë qenë edhe të pandehurit Ilir Stergu, Arben Borici, Erion Cici, Arjan Alico, Enver Borici, Enver Dondollaku, shtetasi i vrarë Leonard Prifti etj. Të gjithë viktimat kanë qenë shokë, miq të shtetasit Artur Daja, i cili ishte kundërshtari i drejtuesit të organizatës kriminale të drejtuar nga Aldo Bare.
Më datë 03.08.1997 në qytetin e Lushnjës vritet është vrarë me armë zjarri shtetasi shqiptaro-maqedonas, Xhevat Demiri. Në hyrje të qytetit të Lushnjës, viktima së bashku me familjarë të tij, janë ndaluar nga katër persona të armatosur, ku ndërmjet tyre ishin edhe Ilir Stergu dhe Afrim Hoxha, Enver Dondollaku dhe Aldo Bare.
Pasi kanë vënë maskat në kokë ata kanë qëlluar në drejtim të shtetasit Xhevat Demiri, i cili kishte zbritur nga furgoni, duke i shkaktuar atij vdekjen. Ndërkohë, Arben Boriçi, i cili rrinte në një autoveturë afër vendit të ngjarjes, është afruar me shpejtësi dhe në të kanë hipur të gjithë personat e sipërcituar.
Me datë 13.02.1998, në vendin e quajtur Kolonjë të rrethit Lushnjë, është vrarë me armë zjarri shtetasi Nimet Zeneli. Në rrugën automobilistike, persona të armatosur, ku ndërmjet të tjerëve edhe të pandehurit Arben Borici e Ilir Stergu, Enver Dondollaku dhe Aldo Bare, i kanë zënë pritë fuoristradës "Toyota" me targa FR 8079 A. Personat e armatosur pasi kanë parë furgonin të afrohej, kanë qëlluar me armë automatik në drejtim të tij.
Në fuoristradë udhëtonte shtetasi Gramoz Selmani, shoku i ngushtë i shtetasit Artur Daja, si dhe shtetasit Masar Aliu dhe Nimet Zeneli, shokë të shtetasit Gramoz Selmani. Ky i fundit, pas goditjes nga grupi i Aldo Bares, me qëllim për t’u shmangur nga goditja e grupit, fshihej tek shtetasit e sipërpërmendur. Menjëherë shoferi i furgonit, shtetasi Masar Aliu, ka nxjerrë nga rruga makinën dhe të tre personat janë larguar me vrap.
Të pandehurit Arben Boriçi dhe Ilir Stergu kanë ndjekur me vrap dy shtetasit, Nimet Zeneli dhe Masar Aliu, duke qëlluar me armë në drejtim të këtyre të fundit. Gjatë ndjekjes, Nimet Zeneli është plagosur me armë zjarri dhe nuk ka mundur të largohej.
I pandehuri Ilir Stërgu, së bashku me të pandehurin Arben Borici, i janë afruar të plagosurit dhe kanë qëlluar në drejtim të tij, duke i shkaktuar edhe vdekjen. Ndërsa dy shtetasit e tjerë, Gramoz Selmani dhe Masar Aliu, kanë mundur t’i shpëtonin ekzekutimit.
