A 45-year-old Greek man has been placed under investigation after attempting to leave Albania with 45,000 euros undeclared.
According to the police, the amount of money was found inside her bag while she was traveling to Greece from the Port of Saranda.
"The Border Police Services at the Port Saranda BCP, during the continuous checks they carry out with the aim of preventing, identifying and cracking down on illegalities, have found 45,000 euros in a citizen's bag, which he was attempting to take out of Albania without declaring.
Following the actions in the case, the materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office, where criminal proceedings were initiated against the Greek citizen GV, residing in Greece.
The money was seized as material evidence and the procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Saranda, for further action, for the criminal offense of "Failure to declare money and valuables at the border," the Police announced.
