The Court of Appeal of Tirana has decided to overturn the decision of the first instance Korçë, which sentenced Maliqi's "strongman", Taulant alias Roland Luli, to life imprisonment.

The decision that overturned the sentence of life imprisonment was given a few days ago, by a judicial body headed by judge Dritan Hasani.

The jury of the Tirana General Appeal found deficiencies in the argumentation of the decision of the first instance, bringing the case back for retrial again in the court of Korça, with another jury.

After this decision, the case against Roland Luli will be returned for trial.

Meanwhile, for Luli, there is another decision that keeps him in prison. He was initially sentenced by two courts to 18 years of imprisonment for the charge of "Trafficking of minors", "Possessing weapons and ammunition without a permit" and "Production and sale of narcotics".

"Ora News" journalist Elton Qyno learns that since July 2019, Roland Luli has been in the Drenova prison.

Taulant alias Roland Luli, is a person sentenced to life imprisonment in Greece and escaped on March 22, 2013 from Trikalla prison.

He was able to enter the Albanian territory by engaging in various crimes, where the criminal police created strong suspicions that Luli acted as a hired killer in Albania or as part of the band of robbers led by Gramoz Murataj.

Luli is known in the district of Korça as "Malik's strong man", due to the many armed robberies he has committed in the state of Hellenic and other crimes in the residential area in Albania.

At the moment when Luli was caught by the agents of the State Police, a large arsenal of weapons was seized from his car, such as a pistol with a silencer, hand grenades and several cartridges of different calibers.

Due to the arrest in Albania, the Greek authorities brought to Albania the request for the recognition of the criminal decision of his life imprisonment sentence. This request has been submitted to the judicial process in Korça, bringing recognition of the Greek decision and sentencing Luli to life imprisonment.

But this decision was appealed by Roland Luli, causing the Tirana Court of Appeal to overturn the decision of the first instance and return the file for retrial.

From July 2019 onwards, Roland Luli has been isolated in the Drenova prison in Korça, after the prosecutor's office of this city initially arrested him for the charge of "Unauthorized possession of weapons and ammunition", "Cultivation of narcotic substances". and "Exploitation of underage girls for prostitution".

According to the Larissa prosecutor's file, it is about 26 robberies, where in three cases these robberies have not only led to the theft of property, but also the loss of life of three Greek citizens.

The people who were robbed and then killed by Roland Luli and his accomplice Altin Ndreka and the Greek citizen Aikaterini Kalfadopoulou, are named Astra Vasileiou, Evdokias Anagnostopoulou and Aristeas Katergari.

According to the Greek file, the latter was tied up and then stabbed, only because the two Albanian robbers Roland Luli and Altin Ndreka had nothing to steal from her apartment in Volos, where in this case they only stole 50 euros and a pair of gold earrings.

The ferocity of Luli and his two accomplices continued to appear in other cases, where their victims were generally brutally beaten or cut with knives.

In most of the cases, Luli's gang acted by tying up the people who were in the apartment, and when they left, they also gagged them with natriban, causing the slow death of the people.

The police of Larissa were able to locate and arrest Luli, sentencing him to three life imprisonments and then isolating him in Trikala prison.

But Luli did not serve the life sentence because in March 2013 Luli was able to escape from prison and find shelter in the city of Korça./ OraNews
