Three Albanians have been arrested by the Belgian police, among them a woman, who risk up to 6 years in prison for smuggling smugglers by boat in the North Sea.
According to the Belgian media, the citizens Drilon L., 26 years old, Eliona B., 44 years old and Areklon Z., were caught by the police, as well as a fine of 48 thousand euros for the latter.
The event took place on September 20, 2022, where the coast guard managed to bring six men and one refugee woman ashore after a rescue operation.
The boat was driven by Drilon L., who had traveled from the city of Liège in a van to De Panne. The "Mercedes" type van was driven by his compatriot Eliona B. The 44-year-old has declared to the Belgian authorities that she received the order from Mr. Areklon and that she would receive 200 euros for this service. The decision for the three Albanians will be given on January 3 next year.
