An Italian court has remanded in prison a 44-year-old Albanian man arrested a few days ago with a significant amount of drugs, for the purpose of trafficking.
The arrested Albanian with the initials BJ, without a residence permit, will remain in prison until the end of the investigation. He was caught in the Vasto Marino area (Abruzzo).
The 44-year-old was arrested by police on Sunday morning for possession of narcotics with the intent to sell them.
During the search, approximately 1 kg of cocaine and hashish, a sum of money in foreign currency, tools used for illegal activity, and a telephone were found. According to investigators, the drugs were hidden in the toilet of the house, but did not escape the agents' control.
The Preliminary Investigation Judge, Anna Rosa Capuozzo, confirmed the arrest and rejected the requests for alternative measures to detention made by his defense lawyers, Pino Sciarretta and Alessandro Orlando.
Prosecutor Miriam Manfrin's requests were approved and investigations are being carried out further, with the aim of uncovering the trafficking network.
