An Albanian citizen has lost his life in a fatal railway accident in Italy.
The incident occurred at around 07:00 in Ancona, at the Pescara-Milan line station. The victim is a 53-year-old man, whose identity has not been made public.
Railway police forces and fire services immediately intervened at the scene, but were unable to save him.
Preliminary reports indicate that the incident may have been intentional. A witness reported that the man jumped onto the tracks as a high-speed train was approaching.
Authorities are also examining other possibilities, including an accident or the impact of a medical condition.
The incident caused a temporary disruption to traffic on the Adriatic line, while rail service resumed later in the day.
