Gëzim Çela, considered one of the biggest leaders of cocaine and heroin trafficking in Europe, has been left in prison. The decision was given today by the Court of Ferizaj, a day after the drug lord was arrested after the cooperation of the Albanian and Kosovo authorities. Çela was wanted by the Albanian authorities for drug trafficking.
" The Basic Court in Ferizaj has approved the request of the Basic Prosecutor's Office of Ferizaj, for the appointment of the detention measure against the defendant Gëzim Çela, requested by the Authorities of the Republic of Albania, based on the international arrest warrant due to the suspicion that he has committed the criminal offense of drug trafficking from Article 283 a/2 and the production and possession of weapons and ammunition without permission from Article 278/4 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Albania (CPRSH) in accordance with the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo (CPRK) ", the announcement states.
The Court of Ferizaj decided the measure of detention for a duration of 4) days, while it is expected that the Albanian authorities will start the procedures for the request for his extradition.
