
The General Directorate of Customs has reacted regarding the latest action of AMP today at the Kakavija customs where 2 customs officers Ardit Abrija and Eliod Shurdhaj were arrested.
1 parking customs officer and 3 Contraband employees were declared wanted under the accusation of having allowed the passage of contraband goods in exchange for a bribe.
The General Directorate announces that all the persons involved have been suspended from work and that it has launched an in-depth investigation according to the legislation in force.
Specifically, Ardit Abrija, Eliod Shurdhaj and Arben Marvataj (customs officers), Astrit Xhaxha, Arjan Mustafaj Fatjon Osmani (anti-contraband employee) have been suspended.
"The disciplinary commission at the General Directorate of Customs decided to suspend the employees of the Kakavije Customs Branch and the Anti-Smuggling Group for non-implementation of customs procedures.
Based on the Customs Code, we emphasize that it is the personal responsibility of each employee to implement the procedures according to the Customs Code and the Code of Ethics, to be familiar with the consequences of non-implementation, as well as to maintain the image and status of the Customs Administration.
The law enforcement structures of ADSH have started the in-depth investigation according to the legislation in force for this case.
The Customs Administration cooperates with all other law enforcement agencies to punish any abuse of duty", the announcement states.
