Two Albanians have been jailed for growing cannabis in Sutton Bridge, England, after drone footage prompted a raid by Lincolnshire police.
British media reports that they admitted to growing more than 423 cannabis plants worth up to £355,000 at a house in Sutton Bridge.
It was the Lincoln Crown Court which today imposed a 14-month sentence on each.
Police raided the property on February 21 this year after a drone operator became aware of a large heat source. They then found a man on the roof and another man hiding in the attic space.
A drug expert estimated the yield of cannabis at between 11 and 35 kilograms, with a potential market value of between 118,000 and 355,000 pounds.
Denis Xibraku, 24, and Halil Çopani, 34, admitted the charge of producing cannabis, a class B drug, from January 1 to February 22 this year. They are also found to have no previous convictions in the UK.
Halil Çopani's defense attorney stated that his client simply wants to return to his family in Albania. Among other things, the defense told the court that the 34-year-old was taken to Boston after arriving in Britain and told he would have to work to pay a £25,000 fee for illegally entering the UK.
Denis Xibraku's defense attorney stated that his client arrived in the United Kingdom in 2019 and initially worked in a car wash after trying to claim asylum.
