A hearing was held today (May 10) at the Kukës Court to determine the security measure against 41-year-old Ylber Jaku, accused of murdering 34-year-old Reshi Sallahu for revenge motives.
The judge of measures, after hearing the prosecutor, who was prepared for the file acts and preliminary evidence, as well as the suspect's lawyer, assigned the security measure of "prison arrest" at the end of the session.
The suspect's representative lawyer was appointed by the state, while the judge was Matilda Çela and the prosecutor was Brisida Leka.
Lawyer Aurora Guska also reacted after the security measure. She said that client Ylber Jaku has not accepted a lawyer and is seeking a representative from the British embassy.
Ylber Jaku has stated that he is a British citizen, is married to an English woman, and has two daughters.
"The court ordered a prison sentence because we are dealing with the criminal offense of murder. When questioned by the court about the latest allegations, Ylber Jaku stated that he has no allegations."
He did not even ask for a lawyer and did not speak about the case because he says "I have seen how my parents have suffered for 20 years, I do not trust and do not speak in this justice". He is asking for representatives from the British embassy to continue his process. He is a British citizen and his wife is English, as well as two daughters.
"Ylber Jaku has not given any testimony either before the police officer or before the court, he only states that he does not trust this justice as a British citizen, that he should be a representative of the British embassy to explain the case of what happened to his parents and the negligence of the institutions, local government and police, which has caused what I ended up here today," said his lawyer.
The session was held behind closed doors.
