
An Albanian, identified as Ardian Ahmetaj, who is internationally wanted for murder, was arrested by Greek authorities, with the aim of extraditing him to Albania. The arrested man is part of the criminal group led by Laert Haxhiu. It is suspected that Ahmetaj, in collaboration with Haxhiu and Orges Bilbil, killed citizen Besnik Hida in Lushnje.
The State Police announced the finalization of the international police operation "The Wanted", for the capture of citizens declared internationally wanted.
" State Police structures have provided information about a wanted citizen who was hiding in Greece and immediately, through Interpol Tirana, have collaborated with Greek counterparts to locate, capture and arrest the person with high social risk."
"As a result of the exchange of information in real time between specialized structures of the State Police and their Greek counterparts, in Piraeus, Greece, within the framework of operation "The Wanted", citizen AA, 51 years old, was located, captured and arrested for extradition purposes, " the Police announced.
This citizen was declared internationally wanted after the Fier Court, in 2023, imposed the security measure "Arrest in prison" for the criminal offense of "Intentional murder, committed in collaboration" and "Unauthorized possession of firearms and ammunition".
This citizen is suspected of having killed citizen BH with a firearm in 2019 in Lushnja, in collaboration with citizens LH and OB.
Interpol Tirana continues to cooperate with Interpol Athens, with the aim of extraditing this citizen to Albania.
