The court has decided that Arjan Tase, the former police officer who caused the tragedy, will be tried separately from the 8 Himara Police officers who are accused of abuse of duty.
After the postponement of the seven preliminary hearings, the Vlora Court decided this Friday to divide the case for the event that happened in August 2022, where the little girl Jonada Avdiaj was killed by the boat.
The court has decided that Arjan Tase, the former police officer who caused the tragedy, will be tried separately from the 8 Himara Police officers who are accused of abuse of duty. Present at the court session was the grandfather of the little girl, Ismet Avdia, who requested that justice do its job.
" I am Ismet Aviaj, Jonada's grandfather. It is the seventh time, after this long ordeal, we managed to hold a court session. The separation is required to facilitate as much as possible the parties who in a coordination together, that nothing happened by chance... those who are accused are state employees. Of course, their lawyers ask for relief measures, it goes where these people of the state who were paid to ensure the lives of citizens. All those around him are legally responsible. I ask for the support of the media, as it is not only about my granddaughter Jonada, so that such events do not happen again ", said the grandfather of the little girl who lost her life in the tragic event.
The lawyer Adriatik Lapaj was also present, who requested awareness about the serious event.
Today was the seventh preliminary hearing after postponements for various reasons, while now the trial of the parties will continue separately.
