The dead body of Arben Lleshi, the life convict who was executed in his cell in the Peqin high security prison at noon on December 15, 2023, by Sokol Mjacaj, continues to be kept in the Tirana morgue.
His family members have not yet appeared at the institutions to carry out the procedures for the removal of the body and the subsequent performance of the funeral ceremony.
According to journalist Klodiana Lala, the Lleshi family from the village of Rukaj i Burrel has not yet made a decision to retrieve the body, because according to some sources, it has received signals that the tribe with which it is at enmity may continue its revenge.
Arben Lleshi was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder and then the burning of the lifeless body of Agim Hoxha in 2012 in Great Britain.
Lleshi was killed inside his cell in the high security prison in Pec by Sokol Mjacaj, who was also sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of two Czech tourists during a robbery attempt in 2015.
The execution of Arben Lleshi is suspected to have been carried out for blood feud motives. Earlier, unidentified persons killed his two uncles while kidnapping and missing his two first cousins.
Despite the fact that the Lleshi family has so far lost 5 members, they are still afraid of revenge, even though it turns out that the relatives had abandoned the 37-year-old and none of them had met in prison in recent years.
Until now, although 3 weeks have passed since the serious event, a relative of the victim has appeared in the morgue and identified him in the morgue, but then no family member has started the procedures for retrieving the body. If the family decides not to retrieve the body, within 60 days, then the Institute of Forensic Medicine requests authorization from the prosecutor's office of Elbasan and the burial is carried out by the municipality, according to legal procedures.
For the execution of the 37-year-old with 3 bullets, Sokol Mjacaj is accused, but the prosecution has not yet been able to identify the perpetrators of the crime, although the conflicts between the two families have been known for 12 years.
