After staying in the morgue for about a year, Arben Lleshi's body was buried by the local unit of the area where he lived.
The Elbasan Prosecutor's Office confirms that the body was exhumed with the appropriate authorization and buried by the local authorities of Mat, because the family members were not interested.
According to information received through official channels from the Institute of Forensic Medicine, the body was withdrawn from the latter on November 20 of last year.
The murder was committed by Sokol Mjacaj, another lifer currently held in the special regime 41 biss.
Meanwhile, regarding the family's claims, the Elbasan Prosecution Office has managed to scientifically prove that the person killed on December 15, 2023 is Arben Lleshi. The family members did not show up to retrieve the body and claimed that they had doubts that it was not their relative. The verification was done through fingerprints and after that the Elbasan Prosecution Office has sent the results to the IML.
Earlier, the family's lack of response was seen as hesitation due to fear of revenge, given that their relative had been sentenced to life for murder. The execution of Arben Lleshi inside Peqin prison by Sokol Mjacaj, where Indrit Shaqja was also accidentally wounded, was suspected as a continuation of the revenge saga.
The prosecution suspects that this is a contract killing, but has not yet been able to identify the perpetrators, as the perpetrator has kept quiet, making it difficult to discover the cause and the persons interested in eliminating the convicted person.
