The State Police arrested in Tirana a 52-year-old man, sentenced in Italy to 21 years in prison, as a member of a criminal organization operating in the field of narcotics trafficking.
The arrested person is Artur Sallaku, who was arrested as part of the operation codenamed "Operation 30".
"As a result of the rapid exchange of information, with Italian counterparts, the Caserta police, the Office of the Expert for Security in Albania and the Central Directorate of the Criminal Police and the Service for International Police Cooperation, for the capture of an Albanian citizen internationally wanted on behalf of Italy, within the framework of the police operation codenamed "Operacionalja 30", the citizen Artur Sallaku, 52 years old, born in Tirana, was captured in Tirana and provisionally arrested, to be extradited to Italy", the Police announced.
The Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, in 2004, sentenced this citizen to 21 years in prison for the criminal offense of "Trafficking in narcotics", committed within the framework of a criminal organization.
Interpol Tirana continues to cooperate with Interpol Rome to extradite this citizen to Italy.
