Only 8 strikes in 2025, police take no action against call centers for 5 months

What is happening with the crackdown on call centers, at a time when the figures show a strong contrast between the real extent of fraud and the relatively low number of operations. It is the statistics and official information of the State Police that confirm that since November 12, 2025, that is, for 5 months, no operation has been carried out against call centers in Albania. For the year 2025, only 8 irregular call centers were hit in total.

The last two major police raids date back to October 4 and November 12, 2025 in Tirana, with the “SCAMS” operation, where over 100 thousand euros were seized and 38 operators were prosecuted. The call center was defrauding European citizens of millions of dollars. Meanwhile, on November 12, the “Wrong Call” operation uncovered another location in Selita, where the manager and two employees were arrested. The police also announced that the people who had rented the location for this activity were wanted.

There has been no police operation against call centers for 5 months, while the phenomenon continues to remain one of the most widespread forms of economic fraud. This is also confirmed by the SPAK operation with the Italian authorities that on January 17th hit a network of call centers in the capital. That the concern remains strong is also confirmed by the message of the new Police Director Skënder Hitaj as he defined the main task of the police structures in Tirana to crack down on illegality through call centers.

While in the general directorate of the state police, the responsible structure against this activity is the Criminal Police Department./ A2 CNN
