A large-scale fire engulfed a building in the "Farmacia 10" area, near the "Mother Teresa" Hospital in Tirana, on Tuesday evening, triggering a large-scale emergency operation.
According to preliminary data, 4 citizens and 3 firefighters presented to the QSUT emergency room with signs of asphyxiation as a result of dense smoke.
The fire, which has engulfed the facade of the building, has been going on for more than two hours, while the flames have spread rapidly, making initial intervention difficult.
8 fire engines, 6 emergency vehicles, and around 50 forces including firefighters, civil emergency services, and Armed Forces personnel were deployed to the scene.
In support of the operation, 2 army Cougar helicopters have also been made available, which are intervening from the air to extinguish the flames, while military forces on the ground are assisting in managing the situation and supporting civilian structures.
Meanwhile, 4 ambulances have been placed on standby to assist residents and officers who may be affected by asphyxia.
