The death of the boxer, Besar Nimani on Saturday in Bielefeld has also brought the reaction of the former boxing world champion, Marco Huck.
The perpetrator or perpetrators are on the run. Huck sadly told BILD: “I'm shocked. Besari was my childhood friend. When I was in Bielefeld, we were together every day and always.
Just ten days ago I met Besar in Bielefeld. We talked about old times in a cafe and laughed a lot. My friend was a very fun and strong guy, very energetic and always helpful. It's all so cruel. I still can't believe that I will never see this good friend again," he said.
After the Bielefeld time, the two boxers parted ways. Marco Huck turned pro in Berlin Sauerland and later became WBO world champion under coach Ulli Wegner. Nimani moved to Berlin-Marzahn, where he was prepared for his bouts by the well-known professional trainer, Otto Ramin.
"I am very sorry. Besari had talent and was very hardworking. His sister also trained with us, who later boxed with the amateur national team", Ramin told BILD.
Marco Huck couldn't believe what happened on Sunday. "What a horrible act, no one deserves this. I spoke on the phone with Besar's brother, Berat, who was a year older than me and also a boxer, and expressed my condolences to the family."
Marco Huck has lost a friend and hopes "that the perpetrator or perpetrators will be caught and receive their deserved punishment."
