26-year-old Xhulio Malo was arrested today for participating in the murder of Elis Roshkodol in Shkodër. The young man who is suspected of having participated in the assassination of August 30, was handcuffed by the police of Shkodra and accused of complicity in murder and providing the means to commit murder. But Malo is not an unknown name for the Albanian authorities.
Malo was known as a supporter of the Islamic State ISIS. He was described as one of the members of the youth group, former soldier of Gate Mahmutaj (deceased), in Lazarat. In Lazarat, Malo participated in the murder of RENEA officer Ibrahim Basha.
How did the killing of the RENEA officer happen?
In the early hours of the morning of June 24, 2015, the police forces, together with the RENEA and FNSH special forces, landed in Lazarat after receiving information about a problematic situation, where there had been gunshots. After the controls, they arrested the citizen Xjulio Malo, who was driving around the center of the village. Numerous ammunition and narcotics were found in the car.
The special forces notified their colleagues to accompany Malo. At the moment when the van was approaching to escort Malo, it was shot at with firearms from a distance of about 200 meters. As a result of the shooting, police officer Ibrahim Basha was killed, while officers Jetmir Isai and Perlat Hamitaj were injured. At that time, the State Police had launched an action to clean up criminal drug groups in Lazarat and destroy plots of cannabis.
The victim was a person known to local and foreign authorities. There are doubts that the 36-year-old was part of the Bajra group in Shkodër and did some 'work' for them. An event that happened in 2010 in Shkodër, where Hysni Bregu was injured, has also come to light. The injury was done by Roshkodol, for reasons that have not yet been revealed, while Bregu is the father of Shkodra's 'strongman', Barush Bregu.
In 2014 Roshkodoli was arrested together with 13 other people, mostly Albanians in Belgium. At that time he was charged with robbery in Belgium. And in Belgium, Roshkodoli allegedly injured another Shkodran named Shema. Meanwhile, on April 25, 2023, Roshkodoli started a fight with the owner of a night club in Romania. The 36-year-old wounded him with a knife and then left the country. For this, Roshkodolin is charged with wounding and is wanted by the Romanian authorities.
