New details have been revealed in the partnership between Italian businessman Edoardo Sarchi, who was murdered on September 27 in Tepelena, and the Braçi family.
It is learned that Sarch's wife, Majlinda Taga, has 50% of the shares in the Salaria Gaz business, while Gazmend Braçi, Eqerem Braçi's son, has 50%. The two, along with their other son, Daniel, had invited the Italian to their house in Salari, Tepelena, and it is suspected that they had gone out hunting at midnight on September 27, when the Italian was found dead in the street.
Majlinda Taga also turns out to be a financier at the "Tegola Edilcentro" factory, which has been managed by Sarchi since 2023. It is learned that Taga bought 5% of the shares from Braç in 2024, a year ago, for a value of 500 euros.
According to initial reports, Sarchi was in Tepelena hunting with his partner and sons. The partner told investigators that someone came in front of his vehicle and shot him. He explained that he tried to provide first aid to the victim by removing the body from the car and then notified the police. The media writes that the Italian embassy is engaged in cooperation with Albanian authorities to clarify the case and is staying in contact with Sarchi's family.
The funeral was private and many of the Italian's relatives were unable to attend, as his cousin Riccardo Barbieri revealed in an interview with La Repubblica. In fact, the Italian Sarchi's sister was unable to attend the funeral.
The dynamics of Sarchi's murder are still unclear and from what distance he was shot. Meanwhile, the 4 people who were arrested were released on September 27, the same day that Sarchi was found dead on the road in the village of Salari, Tepelena. The four, Eqrem Braçi with his two sons, Gazmend and Daniel, and the shepherd Armir Hitoveizi have given contradictory testimonies.
Eqerem Braçi and his sons claim that they were attacked with a gun by a mysterious person, in Dilan between Nivica and Salaria, where the crime scene is. The gun attack, according to them, was unexpected. The escorts said that they initially heard three shots that were very close, which caused the first Land Rover vehicle, on board of which was the Italian businessman and one of the escorts, to stop. The shepherd also stated that he heard 3 gunshots. However, no shell casings were found at the scene.
It is suspected that Sarchi had gone hunting at midnight on September 27, when he was found dead between the villages of Salari and Nivicë, on one of the roads that run through Tepelena. The incident is filled with mystery and a number of question marks.
