The 39-year-old Greek arrested for the murder of his Albanian partner Gheorgjia Murati in Thessaloniki, Greece, who was in the third month of pregnancy, has denied the charges.
"They killed him while he was sleeping, I didn't do it", he is said to have declared, reports Protothema.gr.
According to the Greek media, the author claims that his accomplice, who confessed to the crime, is implicating him in the murder.
In fact, the 39-year-old is said to have said in his testimony that on that fateful New Year's night he had taken heavy sleeping pills to sleep and when he woke up in the morning the woman was not at home.
He claims that his friend, together with an unknown accomplice, killed the 41-year-old woman and he himself did not realize that she was asleep.
"I didn't do anything, everything happened at night while I was sleeping", he is said to have told the police. The Albanian woman had been reported missing since New Year's Day. It was the 34-year-old, a friend of the woman's partner, who confessed everything, admitting that he had helped her to disappear the body in a wooded area.
